After moving twice in the past year, from Columbus, to South Florida, to Atlanta, I'm excited to say that I'm now (hopefully) settled for good! With that being said I feel like I've been living in a snow globe during that year. Not in the sense that its been a magical snowy wonderland, but in the sense that as soon as I feel relaxed and calm, everything is shaken up again!
This brings me to start talking about my recent move to Atlanta, Georgia, just before Christmas of 2016. From the moment my fiancé Grant and I moved to this amazing city, we felt an overwhelming sense of warmth and belonging. From the incredible people, to the amazing diversity of cultures and endless activities throughout, it truly is an awesome place to live!
As a self-employed artist who used to work an extremely demanding corporate fashion design job, I can safely say that the transition to becoming your own boss isn't easy! I took a HUGE pay cut, I started to realize that I missed working in a busy office environment with lots of incredibly talented and fun coworkers, as well as being extremely naive about how much there is to learn about owning your own business. Where is my HR manager...or my IT hero that can fix the printer when disaster strikes?! Despite the huge challenge that its been, I don't regret taking the leap to become my own boss!
I recently decided to create a special watercolor artwork that reflects my love for Atlanta and Georgia, the wonderful Peach State. Check out my process below for creating this new Atlanta inspired artwork.
Mixing bold hues of yellow, orange and red to create fresh peachy colors + natural texture:
Peachy Perfection using one of my favorite Blick watercolor brushes + trusty Winsor & Newton watercolor paints.
What better place to photograph my new Atlanta art print, than the views of the Atlanta skyline from the top of Stone Mountain! BREATHTAKING views...that literally take your breath away climbing the incline to get there!
Art prints are available in my shop in various sizes. Give me a shout if you have any custom size requests or other products that you'd like to see this artwork on. xo
